Who is the "most miserable fellow" in the world?
----
In America, many people have some form of psychiatric disorders (*). Now, since Indians (and most of the world) follow their Western culture and attitudes, these disorders are on the rise in India as well. Is there any reason behind it? or Is it just a random occurrence?

Sri Valluvar cites an important attitude that is at the root of this epidemic, in this Kural:

Those who deny what nobles (those with Universal Consciousness) declare as truth will be considered as "ghouls."

உலகத்தார் உண்டு என்பது இல் என்பான் வையத்து
அலகையா வைக்கப் படும்.

ulagattaar uNDu enbatu il enbaan vaiyaattu
alagaiyaa vaikkap paDum.

(alagai = ghost)

( {Our younger brother who was listening quietly so far, vehemently interjecting}... this is the reason why I don't listen to any of these "religious" people or read their works; they keep telling "high" ideals and suddenly they tell something like this which upsets people!
....
O Brother, I understand your situation. If you happen to associate closely with saints like Sri Valluvar in their daily life and listen to them in person, you will surely not have this issue. Since their sole aim is to rescue us from the world of suffering, is not to scold us! Harsh words penetrate inside your psyche and will have a longer retention in your memory. Saints, at times, deploy these harsh words to drive home some important aspects like this one. However, without fail, one principle you would notice, even in these harsh words, with Sri Valluvar and saints like him:

"Hate sin, not the sinners;
Love people, not their faults!")

In this Kural, the reference of "people of the world" is not to be taken as "anybody in the world." It is referring to those conscientious people who have Universal consciousness in treating others as their own.

"Ghouls" reference is for the nature of extreme restlessness of those who are perpetual doubters. Also, the words "pisaasu" (ghouls) and "paisaasam" (psycho) have the same root word. The following story will drive home the point of this Kural:

In Himalayas, there is a certain type of Musk Deers which secrete musk with an uncommonly attractive fragrance in their stomach pouch, once in 12 years or so. When it secretes, without knowing from where the sweet smell originates, the Musk Deer would foolishly look elsewhere outside among the high cliffs and chasms. At times, it ends up losing its life in its frantic and futile search!

Many evolved people have repeatedly declared that the bliss is internal and to be sought inside us. Ignoring or denying this truth, they search for pleasure outside of themselves! Like Musk Deer, they search everywhere outside and finally end up being miserable without finding it there!

(... What happened to you Y. Brother, you face has dimmed a bit! Keep this in mind: All of us part and parcel of God who is eternal. We can never be completely annihilated! Death is just a transition of state from one to another, it will not make us non-existent! Also, listen to this amusing fact:  Our Valluvar has mentioned about some who are even lowly than the people mentioned in this Kural!

Y. Brother: Really!? {with surprise} what did he say about them in Kural? tell me, please!
...
E. Brother: OK, why is it not easy to follow others advice and ideas? Has Sri Valluvar said anything about this?
....
It is a very good question, yes, he has told about this as well! Before we take that up, let's attend to our younger brother's question first.!)
