Why God created us?
----
This is a very profound and mysterious question which nobody can objectively explain and prove it. Since the very purpose of human birth is to answer this question individually with their own life, in order to graduate out of this world “school”!

(Come on… don’t try to skirt answering it! At least tell me, what you believe in as the plausible reason for the Wholly All-Perfect God creating us?)

OK... one explanation saints mention is that All-Perfect, Wholly Complete God has intended to share His End-less Ever-New Bliss by dividing Himself. There cannot be two “Whole”s possible at the same time! So, He made (and continues to make) the creation, out of His Infinite Consciousness, filled with an innumerable variety of forms, by limiting their consciousness from lowest to the highest degree, by His Unlimited Power. All these created forms are designed to evolve continuously into higher consciousness until they finally merge back into Him.

(Hmmm… something is missing! what about us human beings who are free to do what they wish?)

To speed up the evolution process, God has uniquely equipped human beings with the potential to become one with God to experience as He is. With a catch, however! Instead of making all the human beings as a replica of the same kind, God bestowed All-Powerful free-will as He has to each human being. This is an unique capability available only to the human beings in the whole creation, that will allow them to choose as they wish, however, with the catch that they are responsible for the consequences according to the Fair and Just Law. God, although Almighty, does not interfere in human being’s exercise of free-will, to the extent that an individual may even choose to deny the existence of God! Consistent with His intention (to share the Never-Ending Bliss), God is eagerly awaiting the return of human beings to Him, but expect them do so on their own choice! This aspect is described as “Leela” or “Play” of God.

(It seems bit naive... Is there any corroborating basis for the above explanation?)

Yes, there is... In the entire known human history, none of the saints who attained the God-realization has ever said salvation as the biggest scam! Instead, they all unanimously conclude that it is a state of inexplicable supernal bliss and that is the only thing worthy of attainment for a human being! Also, they try hard, sometimes even with their human lives at stake, to persuade other fellow human beings to follow their suit but, like God, they do not interfere in others’ individual free-will resorting to force!

Like other God-Realized saints, Sri Valluvar says, one can attain Supernal Bliss continuously while being in this world if (big IF) one’s desire vanishes! He describes desire (avaa) as the worst pain among all pains!

இன்பத்துள் இன்பம் இடையறாது ஈண்டும் அவா என்னும்
துன்பத்துள் துன்பம் கெடின்.

"inbathuL inbam iDaiyaRaadhu eeNdum avaa ennum
thunbathuL thunbam keDin”
----
(I see…  {a long pause...} If there is no objective proof, is there any other ways to prove or experience God’s presence? why did you refer this world as “school”? why is “desire” mentioned by Valluvar as the worst pain? what is that to do with creation and evolution? Does Kural imply the attainment of “Continuous Bliss” only applicable in this birth? Is the human free-will absolutely free? What is the nature of Fair and Just Law? How does it operate? What are the consequences if a person does not believe in God or any of these (spirituality, in general)?...

Oh wait, Brother!, you are on a roll… let’s see what our Sister has to say as she is quietly listening to all these.

Yes, this is very interesting and thought provoking! Your description of God’s play seems to me like “hide and seek” game. Also, I don’t see clearly how Love or Compassion operate in this leela which we often heard associated with God… How to reconcile the differences of teachings of many different religions and paths?

It appears, your stay with me is going to extend for a long time to explore Sri Valluvar’s grand treatise together to answer all of your questions, at this rate… ;-) Let me have a quick word with my dear wife, Uma Sivakumar, whose care and discipline helped me to become what I am! )
